ANNIVERSARY
Each February the chapter celebrates the anniversary of the United States Marine
Corps Women's Reserve. The Women's Reserve was established February 13, 1943.
The chapter celebrates this event the second Saturday of February with a luncheon
held at the South Mesa Staff Noncomissioned Officer's club, Camp Pendleton, California.
We honor the courage and esprit de corps of each woman who volunteered to serve
her country during a time of great need and became the pioneer who paved the way
for all women who have served and are serving today.
WOMEN
MARINES ASSOCIATION BIENNIAL CONVENTION
Every
two years there is a national convention held the end of August into September
to include Labor Day weekend. The 2008 convention is in Houston, TX August 28
-September 3. The 2010 convention will be in Philadelphia, PA. A convention has
been held every two years since 1964. The women Marine veterans were inspired
to cultivate an organization that would honor their military service, provide
a community service and develop friendships based on a shared history.
OCEANSIDE
FREEDOM PARADE
The
Edith Macias Vann Southern California Chapter participates in the Oceanside Freedom
Parade held the last Saturday in June. We have fun riding in a military truck
that we lavishly decorate in red, white and blue bunting. Celebrating the birthday
of the county that we served and love is an up lifting experience.

MULTIPLE
SCLEROSIS WALK AT LEGOLAND
In
April the chapter participates in the MS walk for one of our own. It is a day
of sharing with each other for a good cause and support for our members affected
by MS. The fellowship and support for one another grows and brings us together
as a team.
